How does insurance work?

RelayRides makes available to owners the benefit of a $1,000,000 liability insurance policy from an A rated, national carrier to cover the use of your vehicle during the reservation period.

During those times when your car is not being rented through the service, your car will be covered by your own policy, as usual. Then, whenever a reservation takes place, RelayRides protects you against damage to your vehicle and against liability claims from injured third parties.

Who pays the deductible and how much is the deductible?  And how could you have left this information out and thought it was a good idea to do so?

The renter pays the deductible and it is $500.  You can find this information in other FAQs regarding Insurance, for example:

Simple Insurance Explanation

Complicated, Wordy Insurance Explanation

In addition to the more wordy insurance explanation that you have made available, would it be possible for you to make the actual policy viewable?

I would also like to see the actual policy.  This would give car owners a lot more piece of mind when renting their cars to complete strangers.  A phone number to call for general questions would be nice too.  Thanks!

Guys, nondisclosure of the policy terms and exclusions is preventing me and many others from participating! I want to be your biggest fan and spread the word around the city I live in. I understand that there are confidentiality concerns with pricing, etc. That information need not be disclosed.

We need the detailed explanation of coverage and whatever exclusions there may be. It leaves us all to wonder why this information isn't more forthcoming.

Get the policy, blackout the confidential parts, and share. Please.
