Insurance coverage

We understand that sharing your car with your community is a big decision. One of the ways we protect you is by obtaining a $1 million liability insurance policy that protects you against lawsuits for injuries and property damage while your car is being rented through the RelayRides service. In addition, you will be protected against certain “comprehensive” and “collision” losses that occur while your car is being rented through the marketplace. More details are available here. So, if something unfortunate does happen when your car is being rented, we believe your insurance policy should not be touched (except, in NY, the UIM/UM, PIP and liability coverages “follow the vehicle”, and so in the event of an accident, the your insurance has the potential to be implicated). For “acts of nature,” we will provide protection that will match whatever your pre-existing comprehensive insurance coverage would be.
