How does insurance work?

We understand that sharing your car with your community is a big decision. One of the ways we protect you is by obtaining a $1 million liability insurance policy that protects you against lawsuits for injuries and property damage that occur during the rental period. In addition, you will be protected against certain “comprehensive” and “collision” losses that occur during the rental period.  For “acts of nature,” we will provide protection that will match whatever your pre-existing comprehensive insurance coverage would be. More details are available here.

So, if something unfortunate does happen when your car is being rented, we believe your insurance policy should not be touched (except, in NY, the UIM/UM, PIP and liability coverages “follow the vehicle”, and so in the event of an accident, your insurance may be implicated).
