I’ve heard about legislation about car sharing in California, Washington, and Oregon. What does it mean if I don’t live in one of these states?

Before RelayRides started there was no need for a law that specifically addressed car sharing. California, Washington, and Oregon passed legislation to specifically address the topic, and provide an important consumer protection: in those states, your insurance company cannot cancel or non-renew your policy simply because you rent out your car through a personal vehicle sharing program.
